Volunteer Service Opportunity Volunteer Caregiver - Friendly Visits, Phone Calls, and Respite Care

Event Details

Event Date(s):
7/6/11 - Ongoing

Description:

Volunteers are needed to provide friendly visits, phone calls, and respite care to older adults and people with disabilities in Ohio, Marshall, and Belmont Counties.

Volunteers can read to care receivers, go out for walks with them, teach them to knit or crochet, or just sit and talk with them for a while.

Volunteers can also make telephone reassurance calls to remind care receivers about medications or doctor appointments, check in when care receivers are alone, and just make them feel connected and cared for.

Volunteers can also provide much-needed respite care for a few hours when family caregivers need to run errands or take care of their own needs.

Locations, times, and dates are extremely flexible. You choose what services to provide and when and where to provide them. No experience necessary - just complete a short training.

Faith in Action's mission is to support the independent living of older adults and people with disabilities in Ohio, Marshall, and Belmont Counties through the shared ministry of faith communities.

Faith in Action focuses on developing an ongoing relationship between volunteer and care-receiver, so it is not the ideal organization for students seeking a required number of service hours.
